They are soooo horribly pathetic. I went to the new MSN last night and wasn't impressed. Oh well. It is all in Billy's plan to rule the world!

Not that you would want to go there anyway, but M$ is locking "some" non-M$ browsers out of www.msn.com. They are using the excuse that "only IE is capable of properly rendering the page". I wonder how many other websites they will "talk" (or is that extort) into using the same excuse.

Well, it looks like M$ wised up and is going to:
Quote:
"We are going to support the latest versions of Opera and Mozilla so people will be able to get the MSN experience," said Bob Visse, MSN's director of marketing.
But, Visse warned, "the experience may be slightly degraded simply because they don't support the standards we support closely, as far as the HTML standard in those browsers."
But then they are doing it without excuses:
Quote:
Microsoft admitted that its technology was watching for Opera strings--but only because the company wanted to encourage people to use standard-compliant browsers.
LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA
Nice of them to "look after us" isn't it?

Compliant Browsers = IE and Netscape(well atleast until IE can persaude enough government officials to take over Netscape). Augh, thx Microsoft for your generosity to allow Opera and Mozilla.

Does anyone else see the humor in this?
http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/ptech/1...nch/index.html(CNN) -- Microsoft has launched its new Windows XP operating system.
The system promises fewer computer crashes and will allow users to delete data from their hard drive.
;D I think it is hilarious myself....but it could be just me!

Same article as above
you have to call? This is just plain ridiculous! Plus they can just shut it off?? How? Without connecting to your system and downloading information(without you knowing or agreeing to give them your bandwidth) and then accessing again and writing to your system to disable windows as your in the middle of some important document and windows just screwed up and gave MS the wrong idea. Hmmm, I hate MS! SOOOO VERY MUCH!!!!There has also been criticism of the XP registration procedure that involves contacting Microsoft with a unique 44-digit number to "activate" the software.
Rupert Goodwins of ZDnet says: "People are very uneasy about this. This gives Microsoft control of something you've bought, for the first time.
"And when you do something to it that Microsoft don't like, then they can turn it off." Microsoft defends "activation" as an anti-piracy measure.

What's with the Microsoft bashing? You guys don't use it, right? If you want to say these things, do it where Windows users see it. Just a thought.

More like complaining about some of the tactics they use to try and maintain their strangle hold on computer users. M$ wants to force you to use their products and services or products and services from people who pay them. M$ does not own the internet. No one should be able to tell you how you can view it. It's called "the right to choose". Something M$ doesn't want you to have. Everyone should be allowed to live in a free and open society. If you allow your rights to be restricted in doing one thing, then you leave yourself open for someone else to take all of your rights away.
Why not tell this to windows users? Because they have been listening to the M$ FUD compaign for too many years and it usually just falls on deaf ears.
