    Excite@Home to shut down

It's looks like the last nail has been put in Excite@Home's coffin.

Beleagured high-speed Internet service provider Excite@Home announced Tuesday that it will cease operations in February, after suitor AT&T withdrew its $307 million bid for its cable assets.

Excite@Home will shut down on Feb. 28, 2002, after arranging transitional services with its major cable partners in the past few days.

I still remember a couple years ago when they said dial-up access was dead. LOL, so far broadband access has become a big joke in alot of cases.

Well excite essentially shot themselve in the foot! They kept all the other cable internet carriers online and snuffed out AT&T to spite them, then they realized oops, but it was to late. Excite deserves it if you ask me, that was just plain stupidity, you never bite the hand that feeds ya, no matter if it does slap ya around a bit!
