Windows XP may spark ultimate battle to own the Ne

CNET news is doing a series of articles about Windoze XP leading up to its debut next week. The first in the series: Mission: Domination of the Internet

    Quote:
If there is any doubt about Microsoft's determination to expand its Internet strategy through Windows XP, consumers may be reminded of it no fewer than five times as soon as they try the new operating system.

In the second through sixth attempts to connect to the Net, Windows XP will implore consumers to sign up for something called Passport--an identification technology that, in many ways, is a key to Microsoft's future.

Does anyone doubt that MS is trying to take over should take heed - Billy Boy wants EVERYONE to use nothing but MS products on their PCs...no matter that another, more viable solution exists, and MS's troops will stop at practically nothing to get folks to buy in. We gotta break this up a bit!

The only bright side of Windows XP coming out is its support for RAW sockets.

If Microsofts grip gets a little too tight, the kiddies can do large scale spoofed DDoS's to take down the net. Once its blamed on M$ we'll all be safe. Although.... if everyone used *nix based OS's the problem would be there too. We'll just leave that part out of the equation though!
