    PLIP installation

So, good god. I got a crappy old toshiba notebook, non-functional at the time it came into my posession, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. I had to format the hard drive to get it to boot, so now I'm thinking linux. Only problem is, it doesn't have a cd-rom drive, and the network card is missing the dongle. So, I have two options. Either a) I can dial up at 33.6 if I can find a provider, or b) I can try doing a direct link through PLIP and installing as such.

So anyhooo, I was up fairly late last night trying this, and I seem to only have managed to damage the NFS daemon on my desktop machine. (keeps bombing out on boot now). I'll be repairing this for a bit now, but does anyone know anything about PLIP networking?

Never tried a PLIP install, but there is a HOWTO available.
