Why not just remove and re-install your nfs packages.

So, in the continuing saga of my attempt to set up linux through PLIP on a laptop, I seem to have damaged NFS somehow on my desktop. When trying to start nfsd I get Portmap: Connection to localhost timed out.
eep. I have to admit, I've overstepped my bounds here. I'm lost. I think I've reversed all the changes I'd made, but still I get this. Anyone know how I can fix this short of nuking the system and starting over again?

did so, but.. hmm.. maybe I should try again... :-\
Woo.. that did it.. reinstalled the nfs-utils package and the portmap package, and now I seem to be okay. ;D
Ah Linux, even when you destroy it, it stands strong.
