It looks like /usr/bin/gconftool is what you are looking for. I haven't played with Gnome 1.4 much, I will have to look at the docs to see how it works and what it does. What distribution and version of Linux are you using?

Do you have XIMIAN desktop with EVOLUTION installed?
I found that THAT stopped GALEON from actuating.
    It is a noted bug.

    Re:Galeon wont boot

JimH. I am using Libranet 1.9 and kernel 2.4.3.
    TomP. No to both questions.
I am getting this message when i try to boot galeon.
"Gconf error: Object Activation Framework error: OAF problem description: child process did not give an error message: unknown failure occured"

Then an error box appears with this: Cannot find schema for galeon preferences:check your Gconf.setup.Look at galeon FAQ for more Info.

I ran the galeon conf tool and did this. "galeon galeon-config-tool --install schemas"

This then went through and seemed to install the schemas - no errors.

but when i re-ran galeon i got the same output.

I believe you need to update your gconf, check to make sure the version your running is at least what galeon needs.

Very possible. The version of Galeon you downloaded may be compiled against a newer version then you have installed.
