IDE raid 1 trouble: system hangs

I used 2 identical IDE harddisks on hdc and hdd for a raid1.
Everything went well with the setup (with the help of manpages and the Raid-HOWTO). But when I run the system the computer hangs after about 10 minutes and needs a reset. This has led to substantial data loss.

I have a Athlon 800 System with S.u.S.E. 7.2 and Kernel 2.4.4 (the S.u.S.E. Version).

If you could post your raid configuration up on the board, that would be of GREAT help...and two, it sounds like it is a kernel issue.....possibly in setup raid module didn't get loaded right...so what I would do is recompile your kernel with the correct configuration...if you need help on how to do this, please let us know!

What controller do you have....give us detailed hardware specs so we know what we are working with!

Thanks for the replies. The Problem is solved. In a Raid Array with IDE Disks never ever put 2 disks on the same IDE port! All HD get their own IDE port and are Master without slavedrives. Good luck that my Mainboard has allready 4 IDE ports.
