Ok, what's the deal with the mail?

When I log in as root, before I get my bash prompt it says "you have new mail". When I read it, it's mostly just "LogWatch for localhost". Usually there is nothing in the messages except for "beginning of log" and "end of log". How can I set up my normal use account to access my remote mail and say "you have new mail" when I log on?

All users on the box have an internal mail box (usually
sendmail). The system mails system logs/errors to root so
that they can be made aware of what's going on with the
system. It's nice from the Admin side of the system.

how do you view this mail?
lets say your username is agar, then first do mail agar and send a friendly message to your self. then just run mail and you can read the email.

Or you can use Mutt client. Just issue mutt command and it should create profile for you and ready to read your mail.
