2.4.9 Kernel Released Already!

Jeez,the thing was released just today.They are spittin these out awful fast.

I saw that, but I think it is more of test release. I haven't seen a changelog. Saw something about Linus going on vacation.

It has a changelog though I did not read it.Makes you wonder if they turn'em out this fast will they be buggy?Hope not cuz I create enough problems on my own.

Yep, just looked at the changelog. Don't see anything real major. He probably just released it because he was going to be gone.

So Linus has to put his seal of approval on each Kernel?I still know little about this stuff or Open Source period.Beats Winders tho! ;D

Yes, a final kernel version cannot be released until it is approved by Linus. Any code, including new drivers, has be approved by Linus before it can be included in the kernel.

Went ahead and downloaded it.Will compile it in Drake and update that distro.

Guess there has been some people who have had problems with this kernel but I have compiled it in SuSE 7.1,7.2 and in Drake 8,Redhat 7.1 with no problems arising so far.Has anyone here had problems,bugs,etc with this kernel release?
