Re:problems setting up a mail server

Just a thought, recieving mails seems not to be a problem, hence you can telnet in on port 25, but sending is...
Could it be that your ISP has some sort of filter on outbound port 25 connections so you have to set some host of theirs as a smart-relay on outbound messages ?
Have you tried ie: telnet mgw1.diku.dk 25 to see if you can connect outgoing to a port 25.

Great friggin idea man! I had never considered that! Here is what happened when I tried to telnet from my laptop over my wirelessnetwork:
    Code:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Mark>telnet mgw1.diku.dk 25
Connecting To mgw1.diku.dk...Could not open connection to the host, on port 25:
    Connect failed
Thanks! I will check my isp for settings and let you guys know what I find.

I can understand why, but still, it just pisses me off.

From the FAQ, it looks as if you'd just have to set mail.cableone.net as a smart relay for outbound SMTP connections, then all should be well.

yeah I forgot, they've turned on some grey-listings in their mailserver, so when mailing it wont accept untill the message gets resend from orrigin.

But it seems my suggestion made mountainman search further for a solution.
