outlook express

for the last three days my outlook express has not been connecting to my email server, pop.charter.net. charter.net and i tried to change some settings and determined that it was a microsoft problem. does anyone know what i can do without paying 25.00 bucks a pop to resolve this? stuart

Hi. Can you ping the SMTP server of charter.net? If so try telnet to that server.
Example telnet smtp.charter.net 25
If that works, then maybe its a local firewall issue. Make sure your ports are open and if your running XP, that your internet connection firewall is not blocking the traffic.
