Migrating from NT4 DNS to BIND 9

Hi,


I need to migrate 2 DNS domains from an old WinNT4 server to BIND. Is there an easier way than manually copying each record (forward & reverse) over to the BIND server?

Any tools or links pertaining to the problem would be helpful.

I don't really think you can directly migrate MS DNS entries into Bind (although I might be wrong). There certainly will have manually naming required.

Check this link for reference. It's from NT4/Win2K into Win2k3 but included some into that will be quiet useful to transfer into Bind (on Linux?).

Especially I think the easiest would be to configure your BIND to be secondary zone server, and when things are going good, demote your NT primary and promote your BIND secondary to primary.

I know I'm not much help but oh well, HTH to get you a little further....
