Thnx, will upgrade or reinstall. Just remeber how much work it took to install the 1st time but forgot, lost notes on how to prepare, setup dir etc. Would like to download install discs but am confused about what is ISO or burning images, howto dwnload using firefox into wind98 from bit torrent and then use easy cd to make install discs? Researched it but explainations r confusing. Thnx again

Hi,

You need to download the iso images, which are basically copies of a cd.
Got to http://www.slackware.com/getslack and select the mirror nearest to you. From it, download the iso images for Slackware (3 iso images, i think.)

Once you have them, open your cd-burning application and, somewhere on the menus (depending on the application) there should be an option that says something akin to "Burn cd image."
Select this option and select each iso file as a cd image. Once that's done, the you will have your bootable cd's.

Used bit-torrent to download to my desktop seems like i woundup w/ files for disc1? Think I can skip disc2 w/kde and international languages. Do I nd disc3 and disc4, they r source discs? Thnx

Using Easy CD Creator came w/ Plextor CD/rw in win98se. In the prog. windows the following is listed:

Slackware -10.2-ins... 652m988... Easy CD Creator Ima...
Slackware-10.2-ins... 1kb ASC File
Slackware-10.2-ins... 1kb MD5 File

Do I burn all these three to the install cd or just the 1st one? Sorry I hav never used the cd creator prog except like a lrg. floppy. Thnx for your patience. I also am asked if I want to add other files to make a bootable CD? Of the create options I want to create a CD image or Copy Iso image as CD?

Just the first one.
Actually, you should be able to close the application and double-click on the first file, and it should open the burning dialog.

2.2 is old as all hell. I would try to go as recent as possible. That would have the bonus of newer drivers and ability to have all of the architectural changes that are part of 2.6.

2.6.14 should be out shortly. So go for 2.6.13. Plus I highly reccomend getting slack 10.1 as opposed to 8. 8 is also VERY old.

From the commandline, use the

cfdisk

command.
