Good CD-R(W) burner for Linux?

Hello,

Today is a very great day, as I decided to completely make my computer a Linux box. Before I wipe out the W*ndoze partition I want to make some backups of Linux files, as I'm afraid of accidently wiping out the wrong partition and deleting all the files I need. I searched SourceForge.net for a burner, but I felt completely lost:

Does anybody know what is a good burner and what not?
My CD-RW device is AOpen 52X 24X 52X JustLink JustSpeed

since you're using ubuntu, you can use nautilus burn:// to make a data cd out of files, or you can try out k3b at k3b.org, remember! k3b is just a frontend, cdrecord,cdrdao and the likes is doing all the work so install that before you install k3b.

Any hardware should work well, although I reccomend Ricoh or Pioneer for the hardware. Teac is good too along with most sony's and HP's.

LG's are good I have never had any problems with them I got one that has been working for years and still works great.

I just bought a Plextor DVD burner, it's so great I marvel at it's superiority. I was more than twice the price of a Lite-on or similar burner but it's worth it - it burns silently and unlike my old lite-on when it says it burns at a certain speed it do so without making bad burns.

Anyways I find that my plextor doesn't support dao burning so nautilus cd burner gets confused - so I praise cdrecord untill the bug gets fixed.

Don't ask me for the specific differences though aside being slot loaded the specs are similar, I got this one at shg.dk, in my experience the best place to get stuff - and they close by my place so no shipping costs

Yeah, shg.dk are the best, in terms of shipping time and customer support.
On another note, I've been burned several times by expressdelivery.dk, so i'm never dealing with them again.
The support is like pissing agains the wind, and they dont use sufficient wrapping, and in some cases not even the officiel boxing of the item.

Altho I didn't complain the time I ordered a $30 WIFI card, and ended up with Intel P4 HT 3.0Ghz processor.
