    Re:cant access ftp

Make sure you have passive FTP enabled in IE (Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced).

From my previous post at http://www.linuxjunior.org/yabbse/in...threadid=10510, "Works fine now when accessing from a Web browser (with passive FTP enabled) or ncftp (with passive FTP on or optional)."

ok, I just had a friend try it out in IE but it says cant access due to permissions (or something like that). could it be cause I haev a password?? I triedpasswd ftp but when I leave them blank it doesnt change

EDIT: well he tried in firefox but it just kept trying to connect.

Use my proftpd.conf file but put your IP address (the numbers) in for MasqueradeAddress. Put your FTP box in the DMZ of your router.

Then try to access the server via the Internet using IE with passive FTP enabled. Or, let me try it. What's your public IP address?

If that doesn't work, then maybe your proftpd server is borked.

You're welcome. Have fun with your new FTP server. Now that you have it working, you might want to experiment with some weird and wonderful configurations available at http://proftpd.org/docs/example-conf.html.

Oh, if you haven't already done so, take your FTP box out of the DMZ of your router (if that's what you did).

If you got it working by putting the public IP address (numbers) in your proftpd.conf file, then you don't have your dynamic URL set up properly with dyndns.org.
