I think there is little that can be compared to Quickbooks. From what I've read, only thing similar is SQL Ledger. Another alternative (for linux) would be to use CrossOffice to run Quickbooks under linux.

I haven't used it myself, but someone I know has tried it. It has it's limitations of course, but it also can import QB data files, at least for the one my friend converted from, QB '03. Again, don't know about compatibility with newer versions of QB. I'm sure that QB tries to make sure it's incompatible.

Those ought to keep you busyThe first is fully FLOSS. The other two are proprietary/closed source solutions. MyBooks interests me deeply and I may be interested in buying that. Off the top of my head, I believe there may be a copy of Linux Journal somewhere that has a year or two old review of a bunch of this stuff. Perhaps google will aid me (usually does).
