    Re:MySQL problem

If you are using RedHat/Fedora or a similar distribution, you can do
    Code:
    /sbin/service mysql start
if you are using the mysql installation provided with the system.

If you installed mysql on your own, you need to find the mysqld_safe binary, and run it
    Code:
    /path/to/mysql/mysqld_safe &
The ampersand at the end will return you to the console, while leaving mysqld_safe running.

    Re:MySQL problem

    Thanks for replying,

Doesn't work... Maybe it's not even in the service. If I enter mysql in my console (superuser or not) I get an error (I googled for it and after that I thought my server wasn't running)
    Code:
    [root@66-226 mysql]# mysql
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
    [root@66-226 mysql]#
    not cool :

BTW, the mysql.sock file isn't there

    thanks in advance,

    Aljosha

    Re:MySQL problem

    It is not
    Code:
    mysql
    It is
    Code:
    mysqld_safe&
    .
Besides, if the binary is not on your path, you need to go into the directory where it is installed.
