F/OSS topics for paper

I need to do a technology-related paper for my IS Management class. I'd like to do it on a F/OSS subject, but I am not sure what would be a good one, keeping in mind that I only know the user's perspective.
Anyone has any suggestions?

The importance of privacy online (topics here: encryption, anonymizers like tor, email signing, etc) would make a nice little paper.. or a rather large one.

Spam, everybody love.. hates spam, the quick run down on spamming and how to do it/avoid it (depending on your interests).

I was looking more for things aimed at enterprises. I think Lovechild raised a good one, with Spam. Perhaps something akin to the effect of spam on organizations, and alternatives to prevent it.

You might want to look at the topic of viruses and enterprise email systems...easily related to Spam.

I'm still looking for an idea. Turns out the subject has to be some kind of new, emergent technology or technique(no more than a few years old). For example, VOIP, distributed cmputing, virtual teams, etc.

How about VoIP and PBX integration in the small/medium enterprise? Say, Asterisk and skype?

I decided to go with FOSS Adoption on the Enterprise.
My professor wants me to focus on the managerial implications of using FOSS on the enterprise.
