    Re:Problem with network card

    I did it. Not sure how or why. But this is what I did:
    BTW: I am using FC3 now, I open up a Terminal. Remember the link I posted, well it turns out I gedit the network device.

    This is the code I entered:
    Open Terminal
    su -
    gedit /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0
    opens up a gedit page
    I changed a few things on it. LIke so:
    DEVICE=eth0
    ONBOOT=yes
    BOOTPROTO=none
    NETMASK=255.255.240.0
    USERCTL=yes
    PEERDNS=no
    GATEWAY=eth0
    TYPE=Ethernet
    IPADDR=202.156.234.136

    and there you have it, I am able to surf the net at long last

    Aha! I found this on Google Groups. It mentions an error where the firewall in Mandriva blocks you from getting an IP.
    Basically, from the article, I take it you need to do this:

    1. Stop the firewall:
    Code:
    /sbin/service shorewall stop
    2.Try to get DHCP lease.
    Code:
    /sbin/dhclient eth0
    Let me know how it works.

    Hmmm... I never noticed you had changed to Fedora from Mandriva....
    Anyway, glad you got it to work.

    Re:Problem with network card

    Yes I did, another person posted a remark which I agreed, for newbie, I need to use something which is easier to handle. Besides I have found most of you guys out there using FC3 / FC4.

    Anyways, thank you very much. I really appreciate the patience. I know, newbies usually a real pain in the butt. ;D

    Thank you for helping me out.

    Actually right now I am using my new FC3 to post this. I am feeling very good about using this system already.

    Cheers
