    Mplayer Problem

    I'm using Ubuntu Hoary that I recently upgraded to and have Mplayer installed. Not sure if I had this problem before but now when I try to use mplayer, I get this error message:

    $ gmplayer
    MPlayer 1.0pre5-3.3.4 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team

    CPU: Advanced Micro Devices Athlon 4 /Athlon MP/XP Palomino 1469 MHz (Family: 6, Stepping: 2)
    Detected cache-line size is 64 bytes
    3DNow supported but disabled
    3DNowExt supported but disabled
    CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 0
    Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 SSE SSE2

    Reading config file /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf
    Illegal instruction

    I had Warty installed awhile ago but hardly used it, so I see mplayer is old version now..

    Any suggestions/ideas on fixing this?

    Thnx.

    Does MPlayer still work right?

    My bet is to uninstall mplayer, VERIFY that the conf file is vaped/deleted/ded, and then reinstall and see if the error still remains.

    I do recall that gmplayer would whine about a funky conf file, and still work okay. It may be one goonie option that it doesnt like.

    No it doesn't work either from the CLI or from the menu.

    I will uninstall it and reinstall it to see if that fixes it.
