    How to change from KDE to Gnome (newbie question)

    Hello,

    I was wondering how i can change my desktop... When i do
    Code:
    startx
    i get KDE, but i wanted Gnome! I'm using SuSE 9.1.

    I searched google and found that I have to do
    Code:
    switchdesk
    , but it says that the command is not found. I tryed
    Code:
    apt-get install switchdesk
    witch resulted in
    Code:
    package not found
    Also searched the YaST online update, but found nothing.
    So what is the way of doing this?

    Thanks in advance...

    For GNOME you might want to consider a distro that doesn't totally wreck GNOME - something like Fedora or Ubuntu works nicely.

    YaST ought to be able to do that. Plus if you select from GDM or KDM a different desktop and save that as the new default for that user, you should have that new one saved as the one startx starts up.
