trouble dl oracle9 to Slackware 10

Subject says it all. Am I brain-dead? Somehow, I can't make it click. My user name indicates that I'm a firm RTFM advocate. This time, unfortunately, the cranial crontab has suffered a malfunction. Never done this before but, haaaaaaaaaaaaaalllp.

Oracle only supports Red Hat and SuSE. If it detects that you're running neither of those distros, it won't install. I was unpleasantly surprised at this fact when I tried to put Oracle 10 client on Ubuntu.

You can get drivers, and all that so you can access oracle databases from any distro, but unfortunately the database and client software is distro-specific.
