Hello,
I found a place to stay in the east bay. I found a really nice place in Dublin. I get all utilites and rent for one fee. The house has wireless network. So I need a PCI Wi-Fi card. What is a good card that I can possibly attach an external antenna in the future? That is easily configurable in linux. I think I might get into building antennas and that kind of thing.
TIA
P.S. Thanks again trickster for that link.
I got the card in today after ups gave me a tough time. Ok. What apps do I use to see if there is any wifi service I can tap into.
TIA
Netgear wg311t worked out of the box. I can configure it but I am yet to find a scanner. I *think* airsnort dose this. But I am not sure if it only cracks weps.
What module is it using ?
Since I'm having problems getting my Netgear WG311 working..
UbuntuCode:ath_pci 50724 0 wlan 105564 2 ath_pci ath_hal 129232 2 ath_pci
Netgear make several versions of WG311s (bustards) without changing its version number but only the chipsets (AFAIK). I don't know about PCI stuff but my WG511 is a piece of junk and I'm having a hell of a hard time trying to find someone to switch the card who uses only Windozs.
Or may be I should just get another PC card since the prices have fallen sharply. :-\
I got mine on overstock for around $28 with everything. Works fine.
