From the looks of it, no you can't. There are no prebuilt binaries, at least, and I think installing from source might be a decent amount of work.
Doesn't debian support sparc?
I have a spac server with enough horsepower to handle the load - can FC3 be installed on SPARC machines?

even if it does, can't use it....not really familiar with debian and can't start digging cause I have a pretty close timeframe for setting things up.
thanks
Yes, Debian supports Sparc.
Why not solaris10? (Free download)
Just curious.
1. Solaris is NOT Linux.
It's nice to test a new Unix flavor and such but some wants to have fimilar OS they can work with.
2. Available software packges are limited. Sun includes 187 tools but that's nothing compare to thousands that Linux currently supports.
3. Not all software can be compiled onto different OS. Some will not work on Solaris.
4. There are those of us who wants the power of Sparc but doesn't like the Solaris - Ugly GUI - don't know about SJDS with Gnome.
That's all I can think of for now.
Really I'm not trying to be difficult--
Here is a small list of contrib solaris packages-
http://www.blastwave.org/packages.php
with a pkg-get utillity that tracks dependancies (apt-get clone),
you will also note kde 3.4.1 amongst the packages...
Oh and yes, it is NOT linux lol

See the link in my original post. It has only 187 packages.
Some very important packages are missing, namely LMSensors and Shorewall.
So I personally won't choose OpenSolaris for my server even on Sparc. ( Ah, that reminds me to work on my UltraSparc box that I have :-\ )
Yeah, all those clones. Even Yum don't work as well as APT.with a pkg-get utillity that tracks dependancies (apt-get clone),
And they are still stuck at Gnome 2.8 . Even Ubuntu 5.04 which released more than 4 months ago included Gnome 2.10.you will also note kde 3.4.1 amongst the packages...
Oh yeah ..... this is a Linux board so naturally We LOVE all things Linux. ;D 8) ;DOh and yes, it is NOT linux lol
http://auroralinux.org/#news Looks like you can update packages to fc2-- might be worth a shot.
Speaking of apt-- why not Debian? (Or is there something wrong with debian now? ;D )
http://www.us.debian.org/ports/sparc/
It looks as though many of the packages are 32 bit :-\
I havent been able to break apt in over a year now, the debian people have done some really great with apt to keep me from breaking it. They have made the installer cleaner/simpler -- slackware'ish.
(Beyond that do I dare mention a BSD...... )
BTW: there are many solaris repositories-- that was just one off the top of my head.
http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/newdrivers.html hmm.. no sun products. Builtin firewall....
You counted them ;D;D
;D
lmao
