This was brought up on slashdot too. As neat as it would be to have it happen, it probably won't. Look what happened with the whole SCO thing...last time IBM open sourced potentially proprietary code it got burned. It won't make the same mistake twice.

OS/2 is what got me thinking about an alternative os. I always liked os/2 better than Windows. I thought os/2 was so hot on our Demo Aptiva at RadioShack.
I remember running OS/2 Warp when I was in gradeschool - I really think it would be great to open source it, to preserve it as a part of IT history.
