Hi, I use VNC for remote access to users' machines but a lot of them have fetish for using the caps lock, which upsets VNC. Is there a way I can turn the damn thing off remotely?
Much Googling has not turned up a workable solution, and it drives me nuts!
cheers, Chris
Thanks for the link, but it didn't work. I should have specified that I need to be able to disable the caps lock before I attempt to log on via VNC. I tried using pstools to execute the prog remotely but it wasn't having any.
I also found a tool called klocks which was a partial success in that I could execute it remotely and it would return the status of the lock keys, but it wouldn't let me actually change them. >
I wish there was a "remotely turn off the caps lock, and then lever it off the keyboard tool"!
KBD by design is input only. So is the mouse. I don't really think the kind of software exists to disable/enable (but don't quote me on that) the caps locks.
The caps lock hey has to be set in the OS to perform it's function, I should think, so it -should- be possible to map it to do nothing.
How about taking out all the caplock keys (the node underneath) so that it won't work. If they want to type, they need to use Shift key.
Who in the heck use caplocks more than a few times anyway except the beginning of lines? :![]()
Sadly physically removing (and burning if I had my way!) the capslock key is not an option as most of the users I support are overseas.
It's one of the applications they use that prefers text input in caps, and they just turn on the blasted caps lock and leave it on for everything. INCLUDING EMAIL. >![]()
