I recently got myself a TV tuner card, and now am onto the arduous task of making it work. I've got Zapping and KdeTV. Zapping crashes as soon as it starts up, I've tried about 6 different versions of it. I can get KdeTV to work, but cant get an audio.
For those of you out there with a tv tuner, what software are you using?
I'm running slack 10.0 with dropline gnome. My tuner uses the saa7134 module.
I've managed to get picture, but I cant get any sound. I'm going to do a few tests tomorrow, and then I'll know more.
I had similar problems untill I found out I had to specify a card number.
modprobe bttv card=39
If I am wrong someone correct me.
Thanks for the tip. I tried that, but still I'm getting no sound. I think its trying to use OSS but I dont know if I have the OSS modules installed. I'm going to start looking at that soonish.
Ok I finally settled on a distro with my nvidia card working. I got picture but no sound too. I know i had sound before with out the patch cable. Did you figure it out?
hum - if yous is like mine you have an external audio cable...
is it hooked up?
Yeah mine has the cable too. But I had it working with out it. Maybe I'll just have to hunt for that cable.
ive been looking at getting a tv tuner card for my office pc as well, and found this linux journal link
