Well, I did it...
I've been a Slackware fan for a long time. However, lately I've been having less and less time to mess with my computer. This includes troubleshooting weird issues and behaviours.
So, even though I feel kind of like a sellout, last night I erased my /, and loaded Fedora on it. So far, it has been quite painless for me.
Some day I will go back to Slackware. However, while my time is limited. I gotta go with what works out of the box.
I'm not saying that Slackware is broken or anything. However, they no longer support Gnome, and Dropline has some weird behaviour on my machine (like locking up the window while browsing samba shares.) It also does not have an easy and intuitive package management. Though I don't mind compiling from scratch (as I've had quite some bad luck with Swaret/Slapt-Get), I no longer have the time for it.
So, without further comments, I'm into Fedora now.

Re:Well, I did it...
That's a lot like me. I used to be all about compiling from source and Slackware and Gentoo and all that. But then I got busy and I wanted an environment that's easy to maintain. That spawned a big streak with RedHat/Fedora, only to be recently replaced by Ubuntu. If it doesn't have binary packages and a really good package management system, and the ability to configure everything so it's somewhat working out of the box, I'm not interested.
Right now I'm running Ubuntu Hoary, and I'd have to say it's the most remarkable distribution I've ever used.

Me too on the time I'm willing to spend right now. I went from slack back to Deb. Slack was ok, but I'm very comfortable in good ol' Deb.

Same here, I leave Slack along until I get some hardware/system that other distros give me problems installing. Then I pull the Slack cds out and install it on it.
