GNOME 2.10 is going to be the latest and greatest thing from the GNOME Desktop Project this March 9th. Here is a sneak peek of some of the things that are currently in the GNOME 2.9 development snapshot.

It does look very nice
Lots of features that I always wondered where they were in other desktops.

Lawn Gnomes are evil!! Don't say I didn't warn you! On a related note, I wonder if the new release will come with any sort of speed bump?

A speed bump would quite nice if it's there in 2.10. With that said, I think Gnome is not as bad as a resource hog as it's reputation suggests.

E.g., I am running Gnome 2.9 on a 233MHz G3 w/ 288MB RAM. And although it's not a speed demon, I can still get a lot done using Gnome. It doesn't seem unresponsive or bloated or slow... But that could be because I yanked out Jaguar to install Ubuntu. Hmmm.
