    mouse weirdness - input overload?

HI all... having problems with my mouse in ET and (fuh)QuakeWorld. Occasionally, it just goes nuts, and maxes out both planes, "clicking buttons" randomly. So, I end up looking straight down or up, spinning in a circle, firing my gun repeatedly. After a few seconds, I can move normally. Needless to say, these epileptic fits (apologies to anyone who suffers from epilepsy) aren't doing much for my frag-to-death ratios. gpm is not installed.

    Any ideas?

Debian -testing dual AMD 1.2 using Debian provided kernel, MS IntelliMouse PS/2 (using /dev/psaux for input dev in X config and imps/2 for driver).

May be the mouse. I had that with an older (lower DPI) optical. My new one is pretty good. the only issue is I have a Red Hat mousepad (the Shadowman one), and occasionally when it is resting on the red area (the fedora, as in my avatar), is slides around the screen on its own.

Another thing, change the mousepad. Use stuff with no colors of the LED in question.

Yeah, the mouse. I have two optical ones and they sucks even in Windows. Even if I clicked once, it will do double or triple. That's on the hardwood desk with redwood so may be the reflection has something to do with it but .........

    I need new mouses.

Compunuts :: Try as plain gray or blue mouse pad. Hardwood can be unfun.
