I know that the line,

is referring to my sound card. I cannot get it working even after I configured alsa through `alsaconf` and `alsamixer`.

Running Slackware 10.

Through Google, I found out that i need to use the via82xxx_audio module, however I cannot get it working.

Any ideas are appreciated.

I swear there's no rhyme or reason to getting alsa to work in Slack 10. I wound up fussing with the mixer to unmute the channels and wound up tripping over the solution. It's like the bat cave joke about a woman's orgasm. Dunno how I got there. I'm no help, just wanted to chime in with my bitching.

I have VIA & Slackware 10 working also. It just worked when I installed Slack, I didn't do anything special.

When I get home, I will take a look at my output of `lspci` and post it.

I had the same problem, couldn't get any sound from my slack 10 install, but I used the old version of alsa from my slack 9.1 cds, it worked.

So, just uninstall the new alsa, and install the old one.

I have the same things loaded, however, the sound is very vague. I mean i can barely hear it. In `alsamixer`, i have everything set to be maximum. My speakers are set to maximum but I can barely hear the sound. I can hear it if i keep my ears near the speaker. :-/

Any ideas ?

Well, I haven't found a solution for that but my sound works when I compile alsa with my Kernel.

I noticed a few times with mine, the sound would be low using certain apps but when I adjusted the volume on XMMS, then it would reset back to normal output.

It happens every so often and not quite sure why or what I be doing when it happens.
