Anyone plan to try it out? I had Tolstoy sent me the earlier version but it was pretty lousy.

I did try it a couple of years ago and the hardware support was extremely limited. I couldn't get it fully installed on several different setups. It might have improved since, but I still have no intention spending any time on it. I don't see any benefit using Solaris vs. BSD or Linux.
Sun were kind enough to mail me a DVD with an earlier Beta (ver. 5 or 6 I think), and it didn't even install on my machine.
I'm looking forward to DTrace and ZFS, come open sourcing of Solaris 10 if they are included and the license is GPL compatible we will be seeing some cool stuff in Linux as well.
Well, one good thing about Solaris 10 is that they may offer 64 bits version of it. So it may as well be the first stable 64 unix for x86 since they have much more experience with developing sparc64 platform. Worth a try if you are going 64 bits route. Plus, working knowledge of Solaris is very nice on your resume and employability.
Has anyone heard of any projects to get linux style hadware support added? Once that occurs I would try it asgain. 8.0 sucked since I had no support period, no VGA, sounc, LAN. Just crappy cga 4 color.
