    Re:FireFox 1.0

What distro and mail client are you using?

I'm using Sylpheed 0.9.12 and Firefox 0.9.1 on Debian Unstable. Yeah, I know, my firefox is pretty old but I can't update it right now ( it was a long story starting with corruption of /var drive ).

So my MUA is on TTYS0 and Firefox is on TTYS1. If I put in the command
    Code:
    /usr/bin/firefox -remote "openURL($URL, new-tab)"
, even if it's on the same TTYS, it will just lunch a new instant with/without firefox running.

Gentoo, Firefox 1.0, Evolution 2.0.2. But i think it has nothing to do with Evolution. It works in a shell as well.

They said they fixed it in 1.0 but not in 0.9 and you said it worked since 0.9 so I was interested in what 0.9 version you had and worked with what command. I copied your command you posted but it doesn't work on my box. :-\

Fedora Core 4, Epiphany, Evolution (tracking Development like a true nutter, version number omitted, just like any traces of sanity)

there are other browsers, and yes Firefox is a fine one but I happen to prefer one that integrates fully with my desktop, if there was no epiphany I would just firefox as it's the next best thing.
Frankly firefox pisses me off sometimes, their translation effort is pure nastiness so 1.0 isn't translated into Danish yet and you can't use the files from 0.9.3.. they should setup a service like l10n-status.gnome.org or better... work with that service to make it easy for us to work on it, but no they had to reinvent the wheel.

I'm fully aware of that. But without saying anything about Firefox and to be mentioning another browser is kinda off-the-topic.

Epiphany is nice, though lack of AdBlock plugin really kills it for me.

Yeah as of 1.4 epiphany has finally become somewhat usable for me. It kind of had to, since I seriously, seriously, seriously broke firefox trying to upgrade to 1.0. Reinstalls won't fix it, and I'm too busy to look into it these days, so I'm back on Epi for at least a while.

And cassius I agree completely; an adblock plugin would do wonders.
