HP laptops are already Linux friendly, no big surprise here

The big surprise is not that it runs Linux, but that it will be supported by HP if they sell the laptop preinstalled with it.

I doubt anybody who is running Linux will need HP's techsupport ( and you all know how some techsupport can be at times ). If they make sure their hardware are supported, then it would not be a problem.

Plus, HP would only support SuSE Linux which is not very common in US.

I have Suse 9.1 on my laptop, runs better on the laptop than it does on the PC

    What's your lappy specs?

I'm thinking of acquiring PII 300 Toshiba Tecra for cheap. But I'm thinking that unless it's either at least 1 GHz or more, it would crawl with SuSE 9.1.
