    Mandrake urpmi/drakconf question

For starters I am running Mandrakelinux 10

So, I just did a urpmi --auto-select and now I can't run drakconf.

Any suggestions about what to do?

This is the first time I have done this extensive of an update on my own and need some guidance.

Please let me know if there is anything else you need to know.

    thanks

Doria, I know it sounds silly, but try:
    urpmi drakeconf

At the command line as root. From what I can tell, there is an issue with drakeconf and urpmi when updating.

What happens if you try to start drakconf from the command line??

(You may have to be logged in as root to do this)

    Re: Mandrake urpmi/drakconf question

this is exactly what I got when I tried it from command line

[root@localhost doria]# Couldn't recognize the image file format for file '/usr/share/icons/drakconf.png' at /usr/lib/libDrakX/ugtk2.pm line 613.

ouch, try reinstalling libpng (in what ever manner is appropriate) and then running ldconfig as root

    Re: Mandrake urpmi/drakconf question

    In succession I did

    urpme drakconf
    urpmi drakconf

no change, still couldnt use it.

    urpme drakxtools
    urpmi drakxtools

    still didn't work

    urpme libpng3
    urpmi libpng3

about this time I was getting frustrated...
So, I IMed a friend of mine who is a Linux genius and he came over and did this:

    [root@localhost doria]# gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders.lib

I guess something got screwed up with GTK when I did the update. That explained why Gaim looked funny all of a sudden.

Anyway, thanks for the help! Hope this can help someone else somewhere down the road
