    Slackware 10 + CUPS

    I am trying to get a parallel port printer going thru the CUPS webpage (localhost:631). I cant seem to make the thing print. I am sure that it has to do with the style of queue. I tried using the socket://localhost and soforth, but to no avail.

    Any ideas? Is there another tool I should be using?

    Thanks much,
    Andrew

    Apsfilter. Why even bother mucking around with cups.

    Cool beans man!

    That worked great!

    EDIT::

    Well it generated a test page, but how do I get KDE or GNOME to see it?

    Apsfilter rocks for a local printer setup. But CUPS blows away Apsfilter for setting up a network printer.

    I am confused as to what I need to do to get the applications to use it.

    So each application needs to be configured independently? I am confused as to what I am supposed to do to get the whole system to use it. Am I to install lprng to spool?

    I think that, after having it correctly configured, you should be able to tell it to print to lpr.

    What kind of printer do you have?

    HP Photosmart 1115. Apsfilter has it configured, in that I can do test pages left and right. The issue is either getting kde/gnome or even the applications to see it.
