    Start XWindows

    Dear Sir or Madam,

Today, I have some problems with my Redhat Linux AS 2.1 server. When I boot the server, it can not be logged into XWindows (Ctrl + Alt + F7), but it is still logged by other way (Ctrl + Alt + F1,2,3).

I have tried many times to reboot my server, but the results were the same. Please help me to solve this problem.

    Thanks.

Do you want the server to always start with the X windows GUI console?

    If so, check this link.

    http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/l.../runlevels.htm

You need to set your runlevel in /etc/inittab to 5 so that the GUI comes up after the next reboot. You can then use the "init 5" command to make the server always have a GUI login between now and the next reboot.

    Hope this helps.
