That has worked once or twice. I don't know where, but I do remember reading that someone survived one of these type of waves by surfing it.

Any word from UltimaGuy yet? Does anyone know if he's ok? Death toll is expected to climb to 150,000 soon and thousands of US citizens are still missing. After this long chances of finding survivors are growing thin

I am hoping that its just an infrastructure problem and not the worst case. Having lived in the third-world I know how fragile the elec/cable etc can be. Lets hope its just loss of connection!
