If you're just web browsing, text editing etc, you should be fine. Sounds like it was using the wrong driver, what does lspci show you?
Actually alter the Device section to look like this
Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "vesa"
# VendorName "Videocard vendor"
# BoardName "SiS 650"
EndSection
If you're just web browsing, text editing etc, you should be fine. Sounds like it was using the wrong driver, what does lspci show you?
lspci gives:
edit, just noticed this at the topCode:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 65x/M650/740 PCI/AGP VGA Display Adapter
It seems odd that it worked fine on the lcd display if it was using the wrong driver.Code:00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 740 Host (rev 01)
You're right that does seem odd. Maybe its a corrupt driver file. Who knows.
I think I'm going to have a play around now, thanks again for saving me from the world of Redmond![]()
