    [me=Holy Shebang]is very very very excited!!!! [/me]

    I've been waiting for this since Feb/March. I haven't yet tried the RC1 though cause i have a lot of stuff that it would break so i am just waiting for the final release.

    nobody I know has this one working since they didn't perform the Xfree -> Xorg switch as nice and smooth as could be wanted,

    i agree, hell take a little more time, i can wait, just smooth out the x.org transition first.

    Re:Slack 10 RC1

    Well, based on all their other releases, i would say they will get it fairly stabel before its released. I hope so anyway. I don't want to wait for 10.1
    But anyway, I can't wait for this

    still no 2.6 default... people should really just kill 2.4 dead so we can start reaping the benefits of things like sysfs.

    2.6 isn't default? Thats odd. They're including 2.6.7 source code though.

    i've heard that the default kernel will be a 2.4 kernel, but the installer will allow you to install a 2.6 kernel as well

    i can see why they're doing it... a lot of slackware users are using it for servers, and i think a lot of people still prefer 2.4 over 2.6 for servers right now.

    They said they may include 2.6 for final release... They probably figure that most people will compile their own 2.6's, because default kernels are too fat.
