Linux console Colors And Other Trick's

No particular reason
This is just the kernel used in LFS 6.0 i will upgrade it though what kernel version would you use?
2.6.7 or 2.6.9

I am just going by the book as soon as the base is done i will go threw and upgrade my base packages.

I never built lfs before i usely just rebuild slackware packages and build custom distro's from that.

I decided to go with lfs this time because it is a LOT cleaner and i know exactly what i have instead of guessing.

automake 1.9.4 is the only thing that pops out at me. with the kernel 2.6.7 and 2.6.9 are both quite stable by most reports I have heard. I haven't had a chance to look into the userspace events system in 2.6.10, although it's potentially the cleanest way to do the kernel work for the stabalizer, and if it is, then introducing a new mechanism has _no_ chance of being accepted mainstream. But don't quote me, cause I still haven't looked at it , sorry been busy, but i will very soon. my project has gotten to a point where it isn't taking all my time, so I should be able to do some work on this within the next few days.

To make things purdy. Then again if you are a b/w type o' guy.... For those of us that spend half our day lookin at a shell, colors are like a new wallpaper for my desktop.

Well you can make it tell you basically anything about your system, I cant tell you how useful a battery meter is when I am working outide of X, the date, time, disk free are also useful........................and as jro so elequently put it, its purdy

It strikes me that there are no graphical utilities for the newbies out there to generate quick, colored prompts like that.

Just a thought. It's still simple enough to write one manually, though.
