    where is everyone on IRC?

    Where has everyone gone, since Stween left yesterday afternoon I have been sat at the bar in the IRC channel all alone, without even the spam-bot for company!!

    Give me a "Dummies Guide to the "Idiots Book" for setting up IRC.

    Please type slow, I have the brain of a child and the heart of a lion. I keep them both in a jar under my bed.

    On a related note, I am having NO luck getting onto IRC servers from work. Well, I am supposed to be working, but we all know how that goes :P Anyhow, I'm behind a proxy server that doesn't seem to want to play ball, from what I can tell, although I haven't dug all that deeply yet. Anybody have some groovy ideas how to convince it "I'm OK, You're OK"?? Thanks.

    I have Konversation and XChat but don't know how to config. Anyone having experience with these could tell me what goes in what blank, please.

    Fatal: X-Chat config goes like so

    - To get the server-list: File->Server List

    - Click checkbox to get the edit mode

    - 'add' group and then click on it to rename it

    - in the right pane (way to the right) enter the server: irc.freenode.net/6667
    (if you want you can add another server so xchat will cycle through them untill its connected)

    - enter Nickname, alternative, real name (don't use your real name) and other two things in the top input boxes

    - down at the bottom of the server-list window check the checkboxes (like Use Global info, connect at startup...)

    - to auto connect to a chan type #linuxfoo in the channels inputbox

    - hit connect and you should be ch4t|n

    I'm at work on a windows box right now so if you still have trouble logging in or you'd need a few screenshots let me know.

    cheers.-
