have you tried diffrent software on the windows machine's ? or just win. media player, I know some mpegs that don't work in Wmplayer will work in powerdvd
I'm using a webcam to make a few stop-motion movies.. Once they are made, I'm using ffmpeg to convert the frame rate from one every 10 seconds to 15 frames/sec. Works great, and mplayer can play them no problem.
However, I can't play them on a windows machine... it can't find the codec needed. I've tried forcing ffmpeg to use mpeg1video and various other codecs to create the video, but still no luck.
Any ideas? Is this a linux/creation/encoding problem or a windows/decoding problem?

I think the problem is that you're trying to make moovies. It is probably something for cows. Movies on the other hand might play well. ;D
Does anyone know of any other encoders out there? I know gstreamer has some encoding plugins for things like ogg vorbis and mp3...maybe it includes an mpeg encoder?

You can try DivX, which encodes MPEG-4.
