    boot linux from external drive

Can linux be booted from an external hard drive? I have found that it can't by usb, but what about firewire? If so, what would I have to do so this would work?

Thanks in advance for the advice and suggestions.

Linux can be booted using an external USB drive, as long as your motherboard supports booting from external drives. I assume the case is the same for firewaire.
