Thread: Best Gnome Distro?

    Re:Best Gnome Distro?

    All these people with their FreeBSDs....HE SAID NO COMPILING!!! Though gentoo's emerge, while technically compiling, really is just as simple to use as apt-get or yum.

    I'd have to go with Fedora as the number 1 Gnome supporter. Either that, or Slack with Dropline Gnome (which is really, really, really nice btw). Fedora is the only distro I know that ships with Gnome as the default desktop, and even goes so far as to cripple KDE so that those who don't like Gnome either sail with this ship or don't sail at all.

    I've been using FC1's Gnome 2.4 for 4 months now and haven't had a single hitch. I say go with Fedora.

    well, i guess i'll just stick with FC. the only thing i don't like about it is their policy about software which may infringe on patents (like mp3 decoders etc...) but other than that it's excellent.

    [me=Ralinx]hopes FC2 with gnome 2.6 gets released soon[/me]

    There's a little app called 'pkg_add'. Just like installing a RPM. NO COMPILING!!!!
