Meaning, we are too?

So in theory, we won't notice anything, except on friday?

Correct, even then for only 5-10 minutes. Actually, my ISP has already updated the DNS, so I'm seeing the new server now.
Meaning, we are too?

Depends on your ISP. Ping linuxjunior.org and if the IP address it resolves to is 24.227.85.242, then you're on the new server.
It does.![]()
Nice work cloverm!
hummmsss.....
Code:[pbharris@bugs ~]ping 24.227.85.242 PING 24.227.85.242 (24.227.85.242) 56(84) bytes of data. --- 24.227.85.242 ping statistics --- 256 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 255024ms [pbharris@bugs ~]
Seems it didn't seep through to my ISP's DNS:
Code:ben@luna $ dig linuxjunior.org ; <<>> DiG 9.2.2 <<>> linuxjunior.org ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 46777 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;linuxjunior.org. Haha! ;D My firewall doesn't let pings through. Safer that way...

curious..do you have a static ip, or dynamic? the other thing is..since your hosting the whole site yourself, why not let some of us host parts of it? probobly take quite a bit of work..but it would be a true community website that way. Like, I could definatly host the forum or PETS...id set up a seperate server for it probobly, and get a new router to garentee uptime. Just an idea though.
now, the problem with that is being careful your sure who host's it isn't going to mess with it. you would have to use your best judgment on chosing.

Of course it's a static IP. Let's see how the new server will hold up, then we can consider your solution if we need more resources. I think the box is beefy enough to handle everything.
