df -ah reading partitions wrong!

I type in
`df -ah`
and it tells me that my non-swap partition had only 2.4 GB but in reality I have 3.5 GB of space. ??? So to check if I was right, I booted the Slackware 1 cd and typed in
`cfdisk` and it was

Linux ext2  3503.4MB  
Linux Swap.    821MB

Those were the only two partitions but the
`df -ah`
reads it wrong. ??? I did a full Slackware Install and it tells me I have 225MB Left while, really I have 1 Gig left. How can I fix this?

have you run fsck.ext2 on the partition? of course that would need to be done from a boot disk because fsck can not be run on mounted partitons.

from this thread i am guessing that the cylinders as seen in fdisk are not the same as those seen by the kernel - is LBA mode enabled in the BIOS?

What is LBA mode? Sorry, I don't know but the cylinders seem to be the same. I will take a look at it again.

it is a setting in the BIOS, LBA = Logical Block Addressing

You ran an fsck or a cfdisk? fsck checks your filesystem, cfdisk messes with the partition table.

I ran a fsck /dev/hda1 on my first partition and left my swap alone.

I use cfdisk only before installing a new distro. ;D
