Thread: Slackware .bashrc

  1. #1

    Slackware .bashrc

    I wanted to add some aliases and looked for .bashrc or .bash_profile. I cannot find either of these. I am running Slackware 9.1 and I would like to know if Slack has different files for the aliases or do I manually create them? If I need to manually create them, how or what should I put in them? Thanks!

    You have to manually create them for Slackware. When you create them, place them under your home directory. So, something like:
    Code:
    vim ~/.bashrc
    will do.

    Whatever you want to execute at every shell start-up (ex: aliases).

    Re:Slackware .bashrc

    I'm stupid and I made it .bash.profile because I forgot the name here's how I did it:

    in /etc/profile
    Code:
    if [ ! "`id -u`" = "0" ]; then
    . ~/.bash.profile
    fi
    and then i put this in /usr/sbin/useradd, with a defualt .bash.profile being in /etc

    where it says this:
    Code:
    HME="-d ${HME}"
    add this:
    Code:
    PHME="${HME}"
    after it says this:
    Code:
    # Add the account to the system
    CMD="$useradd "$HME" -m "$EXP" "$U_ID" "$GID" "$AGID" "$SHL" "$LOGIN""
    $CMD
    addthis:
    Code:
    #Let's load a default profile
    cp /etc/.bash.profile $PHME/
    chown $PHME/.bash.profile $LOGIN
    chmod +rwx $PHME/.bash.profile
