Upgrading Gnome and KDE (Redhat 9)

Redhat 9 is installed on my machine. Both Gnome and KDE came with it. They run as one, where i can quickly switch between one and another and use tools from both no matter which one i am in.

I have a DVD that came with Linux magazine, it has new full distributions of both Gnome and KDE on it. I was wondering how i would upgrade my current distribution in order to get the new features that the new versions offer.

Do i have to re install and choose either Gnome or KDE over redhat 9?

Well its really a matter of getting the rpms installed. I would personally either run garnome or upgrade to Fedora Core 1, the smoothest solutions.

I have been a GNOME fanboy for some time (v1.2 days)

We don't normally delete topics once the answers have been found. The primary reason is that someone else might have the same question that you had and the answers pointed to can help them.

    Cheers
