/lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2115.nptl/kernel/drivers/char/agp/agpgart.o: init_module: Invalid argument
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

it didn't return anything.
radeon 9800 (r350)
okay - its good that it did not return anything
are you using the drivers supplied by ati? also what chipset is the mainboard. need to know as much as we can.
yes i installed the ATI driver but i'm tryin to use the kernels agpgart.
chipset - via kt400
hpt 370x/372x
vid - radeon 9800 (r350 chipset)
kernel - 2.4.22-2115-nptl
distro - fedora core 1 ( yarrow )
may have found the answer...
kernel 2.4 doesn't support the via kt400 chipset 'properly' and is supposed to cause all kinda quirkiness. suggested fix is to upgrade to 2.6 kernel...
i'll let you know if this fixes my headaches.
yup, twas the 2.4 kernel with kt400 chipset. apparently mine dont mix well. so now on to 3d support!
2.4 never fully supported the kt400, but I did get it working with mine a while back. That was in the 2.4.18 days, and the RH9 kernels seem to support it find, but anyways. The way I got around it was like this:
modprobe agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1
Hope that helps in any way possible.
